Dr. Nathan Newman is the Executive Intelligence and Risk Assessment at the National Australia Banks. Nathan leads NAB’s financial intelligence and risk assessment functions, including generating intelligence and typologies, overseeing the development and improvement of risk assessment methodologies, and the execution of NAB’s enterprise-wide financial crime risk assessment. Nathan was formerly the National Manager, Regulatory Operations at AUSTRAC, where he was responsible for the supervision for more than 15,000 Australian businesses in the banking, gambling, payment platforms, financial services, money transfer businesses and currency exchange sectors. Nathan was also formerly AUSTRAC’s Chief of Staff and has worked across the Australian national security and law enforcement community for more than a decade. Nathan attained a Doctorate of Philosophy following studies to develop a next generation sensor for waste water analysis.
